LEPD updates Top 10 Most Wanted List
By Emily Hill, ehill@starlocalnews.com
The Little Elm Police Department recently updated their Top 10 Most Wanted list, and they are asking for the help of residents for information about these suspects.
Out of the 10 suspects, LEPD Warrant Officer Cris Conner is having the most difficulty in locating three suspects who have dodged paying their citations, which include Ireno Jose Cruz, James Garnette Robinson and Billy Carl Geurin.
If a resident knows the location of one of these suspects, do not approach by any means. Instead, contact the LEPD at 214-975-0463 ext. 307 or call the Denton County Sheriff's Office at 940-349-1700. Calls can remain anonymous.
Ireno Jose Cruz, 24, is wanted by the LEPD for eight Class C misdemeanor citations. Class C misdemeanors include minor offenses such as speeding or running a red light at a traffic light. He owes $4,625.40 for unpaid citations and is number six on the Most Wanted list.
"People move, and what they don't understand once they go to warrants, there is not a payment plan," Conner said. "It's just growing because they're not doing anything about it."
Number three on the list is James Garnette Robinson, 42, who is wanted for five Class C misdemeanor citations. He owes $1,796 to the Town of Little Elm.
Billy Carl Geurin, 30, is wanted for dodging six Class C misdemeanor citations. His fines add up to $1,848.40 for his offenses. He is number four on the Most Wanted list.
One way to combat these citation-dodgers is through driver's licenses. When a licensed driver must renew their license, the Department of Transportation in all states will deny the renewal and inform the driver that money is owed to a certain city.
"It's a program that the courts use," Conner said.
Conner said the suspects have the option of paying or being escorted to jail if apprehended.
"My theory is, I'd rather keep them out of jail because they have family, they have jobs. But they need to contact the courts," Conner said.
Conner said that anonymous tips are either a hit or a miss. Sometimes he receives calls from people who leave messages with information and other times he doesn't hear anything got awhile. However, just within the last two weeks he has been able to locate someone from the old Most Wanted list.
"It's where the citizens and the police department are working as a team," Conner said. "It takes every one of us in this community to help one another. The police department and the warrant division want to be proactive with the citizens."
Other offenders include Derrick Ray Harper, 31, for owing $4,206.15 for 10 Class C misdemeanor citations; Case Levi Leggett, 25, with $2,425.30 for five citations; Gerardo Alex Rios, 30, with $2,150.20 for five citations; James Christopher Warfield, 27, with $1,812.20 for four citations; Noah Roman Garcia, aka "Money", 24, with $2,315.20 for five citations; Rachel Louise Fortune, 26, with $1,817.10 for five citations; and Arica Vasquez, 25, with $1,907.75 for five citations.
Again, if the location is known of any of these suspects, do not approach them. Call the LEPD or the Denton County Sheriff's Office and let them handle the situation.
